Why study PhD at Forest and Landscape?
Working and studying at Forest & Landscape you will be a part of a unique study environment with a large number of active students and supervisors.
Forest & Landscape has one of the largest numbers of PhD students at The University of Copenhagen. This provides us with the opportunity to offer a number of common courses and to support the PhD students in creating a unique study-environment.
One of our professors, Erik Dahl Kjær, says: "We work hard, but we also have a lot of
fun". And both the PhD students themselves and the professionals at the institute arrange a number of activities, which keeps both academic discussions and a good social environment alive.
Professional and based on dialogue
At Forest & Landscape you follow your own independent programme, but you also have a good dialoge with the supervisors.
The three year study is less structured and more independent and professional than you might be used to from your previous studies. The PhD courses are ad hoc and you have a large influence on what you want to do. You have a close dialogue with your supervisors, but you make most decisions on your own.
"Being a PhD candidate at Copenhagen University provides a feeling of being both a staff member in a professional environment and a student of academia - it is an important step toward building a foundation of theoretical knowledge while developing your career," says our PhD student Rebecca Leigh Rutt.

Copenhagen and Denmark - a great place to live
Copenhagen is a great place to live and work. But of course you must make an effort to get started.
You may start by reading LIFEs homepages on Living in Copenhagen because they have the relevant information, such as health and insurance, cost of living, about the Danes, new in Denmark, studying in Denmark and testimonials from international students.
