Housing

For information on student housing from the LIFE faculty see the housing department.
Be advised that this student housing can be fairly expensive and the best deals are often found after you arrive and have the chance to search in person. There are a number of housing websites, but some are available only in Danish.

Attempt to find short-term options, which could serve as a temporary arrangement while you look for something permanent. If you must arrange something ahead of time, a reasonable shared flat in the centre of the city should run about 3000 - 4000 DKK/month. Simple 1 BR flats can be found for 5000 DKK/month.

First point of contact: Your supervisor can put you in touch with current PhD students, and once you arrive you can consult with officemates, as well as other locals and ex-pats.

Online resources

  • Den Blå Avis Lejebolig - free, but nearly all in Danish.
  • Boligportalen.dk - requires a payment of approx. 350DKK to access listing details and contact info. Many students find it worth the fee.
  • Lejebolig.dk
  • Caution: www.craigslist.com for Copenhagen is one website that contains primarily scams– remember never to send any money before physically entering the apartment.
