Research in Urban Design and Regional Development

Our core interest is to understan the impact of environmental and economic drivers, such as climate change and globalisation, on cities and regions.

 

Cities and regions as frameworks for the daily life are focused upon in our efforts on the elaboration of urban design principles and regional planning tools:

 

• Do we need new concepts of the city in order to match contemporary forms of regionally and globally embedded forms of life, culture and economy?

• How do cities and regions adapt to the new global divisions of labour and increasing networking between cities and region?

• What are the design principles of the sustainable city challenged by climate change?

• What are the planning principles of cities and regions restructuring from the industrial society to the knowledge society?
