Research in Multifunctional Landscape
We conduct research in the analysis and management of multifunctional landscapes in order to understand how different landscape functions are distributed in space, and how they are combined in the same spatial context.
Moreover conflicts among different functions, and the prospects of policy design and concrete landscape strategies where different functions are integrated, are important issues.
The research area is closely linked to research in Ecosystem Services and Agricultural Multifunctionality.
The core areas of our research comprise:
- The farm as a key element in determining functionality of rural landscapes
- Identification, delineation and quantification of landscape functions
- Valuing intangible functions such as aesthetics, spirituality and cultural values
- Functional integration in rural landscapes
- Urban fringe landscapes
The research is conducted in collaboration with Roskilde University, Aarhus University and University of Southern Denmark.
