Malaysia - Denmark Twinning - Multipurpose Forestry in a Changing Society
This three-year twinning programme funded by Danida aims to strengthen the co-operation within forestry research and education, in order to promote sustainable forest management in both countries.
The programme consists of three components. The first will target nature interpretation and communication, for example by improving nature interpretation elements in the training of forest staff.
The second component has forests and other green resources in urban areas at its topic. Both Denmark and Malaysia are developing new higher education and training in urban forestry and can share experiences. Kuala Lumpur’s green structure and the need for green connections between parks and gardens will also be studied.
The third and last component aims to improve the ability and capacity of forestry research in both countries to support policy-making. The link between research and policy in forestry is often far from optimal, but a lot can be learnt from studying existing good examples.
Funding: Danida, Kr. 2.000.000.
