Research in Health and Recreation

Helth and recreation

Our research comprises:

Nature and Human Health

Nature Tourism

Outdoor Recreation

Outdoor Education

Human health and outdoor recreation are closely linked. Experiences and activities in green spaces have a positive effect on the quality of life and a number of health parameters – including therapeutic effects.

In our research we document the trends in outdoor recreation in the countryside and examine how the possibilities for different activities and experiences in green areas are best provided and managed.

We also focus on creating research-based knowledge about how – and why – activities and experiences in the countryside and urban green spaces are performed and contribute to e.g. public health, nature tourism and outdoor learning.

The research is both basic scientific and practice-oriented.
