Work package 14: Management Guidelines

The goals will be achieved by establishing communication links, undertaking discussion exercises, and delivering relevant information in suitable mediums. Thus the exploitation and dissemination goals focus on the establishment of a Core Management Group, End-user Board, Internet discussion board, Internet web page, newsletters, workshops, reports and publications.

The Newsletter will be focused at and distributed to end-users and target groups within the scope of the project, i.e. forest managers, policy makers, NGOs and others signed up in the end-user database or participating in the Internet discussion board. The Newsletter will be available at the web-page in PDF-format.

An Internet home page will present the project and its staff to end-users and the wider public. Updated advice will be available on the research on nature-based silviculture of European beech. A list of research activities, and publications/reports generated by the project will be available. An Internet discussion board will be organised in which it will be possible to discuss problems and open questions that appear during the project. The End-user Board will be a prime target group for the discussion board and will be specially invited to contribute (papers, essays, wiewpoints, experiences, references to sites etc.).

A conclusion workshop will be held where all the results (preliminary and final) of the project (WP 1-14) will be presented and discussed. The End-user Associates will be invited for the workshop. Based on the project results, the end-user dialogue and consequent reports, regional practical management guidelines for forestry and nature conservation will be produced. The first drafts of these, and existing results, guidelines and recommendations at the Nat-Man web-page, will be discussed over an internet discussion board in which the End-user Associates, practical foresters and nature conservationists will be invited to participate. The end-user board will be involved, through internet hearings, in the formulation and discussion of management guidelines and policy recommendations. Final guidelines and policy recommendations will be published in the form of informative booklets.
