Key-topic 3: Coarse Woody Debris

 

The aim of this key-topic is to assess; (i) the value of CWD as a habitat for wildlife, i.e. biodiversity; (ii) the impacts that forest management has on this biodiversity; (iii) how to mitigate against the impacts of forest management; and (iv) the role that CWD plays in nutrient cycling in beech forests. The approach emphasises studies of CWD in NW and SE Europe using a common sampling and analysis method.
