Research in Silviculture
We perform our research under the framework of silvicultural systems and approaches as in nature based vs. classical or plantation silviculture.
Our main research emphasis is the increased focus on multiple and sustainable use of forests including balancing economical goods with ecological and social services.
Health and stability as well as issues like forest restoration, regeneration and adaptation as well as integrated wildlife and forest management plays an important role.
Silviculture - science and practice
Silviculture is the science and practice of controlling the establishment, growth, composition, health, and quality of forests to meet the diverse requirements and values of landowners, societies and cultures.
Forest & Landscape carries a legacy of long term basic forest research originally designed to support classical and plantation forest management. We have continuously emphasized an end-user oriented and applied research profile.
During the last century large scale experiments were established to document productivity, health, wood quality and economic gain primarily in relation to the silvicultural system, tree species, provenances, density, thinning, amelioration as well as the silvicultural techniques applied.
Collaboration
The research is conducted in collaboration or networks with various forest research and management organizations. Selected networking, research and management organization partners are:
