Research in Environmental Management and Planning
The aim of our research is to determine the relations between the human environment and the bio-physical environment of forest and nature areas.
Our research facilitates decision making on management with due consideration given to the natural environmental and social, political, economic and governance factors and provides a holistic frame work to achieve sustainable outcomes.
The core research questions are:
- What are the impacts of forest and nature management on ecosystems and the provision of ecosystem services?
- How can we balance utilisation and conservation of natural resources and environmental services in a changing world and which decision support tools can be applied to handle this?
- What kinds of conflict occur in relation to the use of natural resources and how can we constructively manage such conflicts?
- How may climate change and climate change adaptation and mitigation strategies affect natural resources and ecosystem services and the people depending on them?
Large international collaboration project
Centre for Macroecology, Evolution and Climate, funded by Danish National Research Foundation. The center integrates terrestrial and marine research in a cross-disciplinary research program addressing fundamental questions on the origin, maintenance, conservation and future of life and biological diversity on Earth.
Collaboration
The research is conducted in collaboration with Utah State University, Oregon State University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Queensland, Stellenbosch University, CMEC, The Technical University of Denmark (DTU), Faculty of Law (KU-LAW, University of Copenhagen) and Institute of Food and Resource Economics (KU-FOI, University of Copenhagen).
