Obtain an overview of the bachelor internship project in the timetable
The timetable illustrates the internship process in 2011-2012.
If you would like information on the internship process for the Spring 2013, please contact a bachelor coordinator.
Time period | Activity |
June 2011 | Information meeting for students about the study year, including the bachelor project and the bachelor internship project. |
September 2011 | In September, those bachelor hosts who had hosted a student in the Spring of 2008 were contacted, as well as others who we assumed could be interested in acting as bachelor internship hosts. In the late September/early of October, we expect to have a total host list which will be presented to the students. |
October 2011 | Application process. Some hosts would like to receive brief application letters from students before they select interns, and they may also want to call them in for an interview. Others provide a workspace for the disposition of the student, to be allocated among the students. |
November 2011 | The final allocation of bachelor places must be completed by the end of November. The students organise the allocation of the placements themselves. This requires time to obtain the wishes of the students and from the hosts in order to match them; therefore, there may remain bachelor internship placements that are not entirely allocated until the month of January. After November, the bachelor coordinator can provide information regarding the bachelor project internships that have been assigned. |
December 2011 | Each student is assigned an academic advisor. Here we attempt as much as possible to meet the wishes of the student. |
January 2012 | Meeting with host and advisor about the project. When the student and the bachelor host have agreed upon the cooperation, the academic advisor is included and a meeting is held with the student, advisor and host. The professional purpose of the project is discussed and if possible, the task area reviewed together. After the meeting, the student and the advisor will draft and sign a contract for the bachelor project. |
6 February – 10 February 2012 | Method course. The bachelor internship and the bachelor project are launched at a course in method for students. The course is intended to give them inspiration and help them formulate a fruitful research problem or program during the internship. |
13 February – 8 June 2012 | Internship period. During the internship period, the student alternates between practical work on the bachelor project (2/3) and other work tasks for the host firm/organisation (1/3). Time is allocated for meetings with the academic advisor, the mid-term seminar and examination, and the necessary time for preparation. |
26-30 March 2012 | Mid-term seminar. At the mid-term seminar, the student presents the bachelor project, which receives comments and is discussed with the advisor and another student who acts as ’opponent’. Any outstanding issues, unclear points and issues of working methods are discussed and a plan formulated for how the bachelor project is to be completed. The bachelor host is invited to participate. |
Wednesday, 23 May 2012 | The bachelor project is submitted on May 23rd. There is then about two weeks until the oral examination, where the student completes remaining tasks at the bachelor host and prepares for the examination. The host and the student agree upon how the final weeks are to be organized, including how the internship period is to be concluded in a good and orderly way. The process description, also called the bachelor internship project report, can be submitted as late as Friday, June 1st. |
11-22 June 2012 | Final oral examination. The examination lasts about one hour, where the student presents their project and their process description. The external examiner and advisor ask questions, make comments and discuss the project, after which they decide on a grade. |
