Parks and Urban Landscape
The Department perform and develop basic and practical research, teaching, consultancy services and communication within the fields of urban landscaping and park management.
The aim is to facilitate planning and design of an attractive and well functioning urban landscape and to promote an environmentally and user-friendly as well as economically efficient park and nature management.
The Department is divided into three research groups:
- Parks, people and policies
- Plants and landscape technology
- Landscape architecture and urbanism.
BSc and MSc in Landscape Architecture
The Department is responsible for most of the teaching within the Landscape Architecture Study Programme. Thanks to the long tradition and a beneficial study environment it is one of the Faculty’s most successful studies characterized by a constant growing internationalization and an ambition of being one of Europe’s most popular landscape architecture programmes. Diploma studies
The Department is responsible for Diploma studies in Park Management (danish) offering continuing education for employees of the park management sector with specialization in maintenance, leadership and economy.
International leading position
The Department contends to be leading internationally within the field of Urban Forestry and Urban Greening and to have an attractive interdisciplinary research environment for Danish as well as international PhD students within its research field.
Consultancy services to the private sector
The Department maintains close connections to practitioners within the park and landscape sector and thus has to meet the needs of the sector for development and consultancy services within planning, design and day-to-day operations of parks and urban landscapes.
The contact to practitioners is formalized in the Advisory Council for Parks and Landscape and in a newly established project "PartnerLandskab" which is formed to strengthen the interaction on innovation and knowledge between Forest & Landscape and private and public enterprises and organizations.
Communication
The communication to the sector is mainly performed through the "Extension Service", an online application with about 650 subscribers, 10-15 arrangements a year within specific fields and active participation in "Garden & Landscape" – the biggest fair within the green sector in Scandinavia.
