About the Arboretum in Hørsholm

  

The Arboretum in Hørsholm is a collection of trees and bushes that was established for educational purposes in botany and plant use. There are more than 2000 species of trees and bushes - the largests collection in Denmark.
 
The Arboretum in Hørsholm was established in 1936 as an extension to the Botanical Garden in Charlottenlund and with the purpose of supporting education in forestry and botanic gardening.

 

The Arboretum is still used in connection with teaching in botany and the use of plants. The rather unique collection of trees and bushes is also used in different national and international research projects.
 
The collection is, with its around 2000 species, the largest collection of trees and bushes in Denmark and is visited every year by a large number of guests interested in trees and bushes.

 

The Arboretum has several communication activities, which are made possible through support of the private foundation, G.B. Hartmanns Forskningsfond.

 

The Arboretum in Hørsholm is a part of the University of Copenhagen. It is attached to the Danish Centre for Forest, Landscape and Planning, which is under the Faculty of Life Sciences.

 

The Arboretum and the Forest Botanical Garden are open daily from 7.30 to sunset.
